Who We Are
An Industry Leader
We’re a talented group of entrepreneurs and scientists with experience meeting the demands of clinical medicine. Our ideas are simple and timely, based on available technology with an established reimbursement path, and designed to contribute towards a better tomorrow.
Ty is an entrepreneur and has started many successful ventures by monetizing solutions to problems encountered in the delivery of health care. Ty has the vision to see solutions and alternative ways to improve medicine. Ty has been successful building teams to carry out his missions.
Ty has an eclectic background. He is from Oklahoma where he excelled in science and won a few scholarships for his science fair entries. However, he decided to attend Tulane University in New Orleans to study political economy and philosophy.
Ty’s professional career in health care started during the managed care era of the early 1990’s. He put together and managed IPAs, PHAs, and at-risk HMOs. After 10 years in the managed care space, Ty decided to cross over and apply to medical school after experiencing his mother’s painful battle with cancer.
Ty applied to one medical school—the University of Oklahoma. Upon acceptance, he prepared by spending time in the lab of J. Donald Capra, MD at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation studying B cell lymphocytes. Ty decided against pursuing an MD/PhD path to focus on clinical medicine and pain.
Ty did his residency training in physical medicine & rehabilitation at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) to focus on pain management and pain-related rehabilitation. Ty started Alabama Pain Physicians after residency which he is still involved in today.
Ty has since started, bought, and sold clinics, labs, and biotech companies. Ty recently sold Streamline Scientific and Molecular Designs to private equity. Ty is lab director, scientific consultant, and serves on the board of those companies.
Ty is currently working on solutions to problems primary doctors experience implementing the medical home model of care and the digital evolution of care delivery in general.
Ty’s new venture, Grabogen Scientific, blends biotechnologies to bring sustainable point-of-care and near-patient testing required to make next-generation, digital health care delivery work.
